Savannah is now HOME!!!

AUGUST 20, 2007 ~ MONDAY NIGHT

Savannah got home around 7pm today!

AUGUST 21, 2007 ~ TUESDAY

Today is Savannah's first day back at home since she left for the hospital.

AUGUST 15, 2007 ~ WEDNESDAY

We just found out today that she has a type of bone cancer. The name of the cancer is Ewing's Sarcoma.

It less common in children under the age 5. We are meeting with the doctors tomorrow to find out what kind of treatment and other things. She is haveing a simple procedure done on friday to put a portacath in her and they are going take some bone marrow and doing a bone scan. To make sure that there is no more cancer.

I will be updating her webpage tonight or tomorrow.

AUGUST 11, 2007 ~ SATURDAY

Savannah had a CT scan this morning. From a review of the scan, the doctor could tell that the largest part of the mass was removed by the surgery but there was a gray area they were unsure about. Only an MRI could tell them more specifics. Overall, the area looked good. We will not know how deep the remaining mass is inside her brain until the MRI which is scheduled for Monday (08.13.07). We will not be able to find out what kind of cancer it is until Wednesday (08.15.07) or sooner.

THIS MORNING:
She sat up in bed, had her bath, changed gowns and even sat in a chair while her bed linens were being changed. The doctor said he wanted her to walk this afternoon.

THIS AFTERNOON:
She did get up and walk down the hallway and back to her room. She sat in her chair for about 30-45 minutes.

Overall she is doing well. She has some swelling on the left hand side of her face. The bruising on her left eye is starting to show.

Her appetite is good and she is able to drink and eat pretty much what she requests. -Cheetos -Doritos -Pizza -McDonald's Happy Meals -Sprite -Bananas -Peaches -She refused: Ice Cream & Popcicles (Go figure)

She has been watching her cartoons on her cool Fun Center that the hospital provides... equipped with Nintendo, vcr and lots of cool stuff...
